There is an underground parking lot available beneath the Ladeuzeplein.  Other parking facilities are available (see the website of the city of Leuven: Leven/Mobiliteit en openbare werken/Parkeren/Parkings).  You can of course also park on the street.

Collection of race number and timing chip:
The secretariat is situated in the right hand side upper corner of the Ladeuzeplein next to a big tent:

All athletes will be using the disposable chip that will be provided by the organisation for the time registration.  This chip is free of charge for Belgian licensees, other athletes will have to pay a supplementary price of 3 € for this chip, this amount is included in the registration fee.

Transition areas

We have 2 transition areas: 1 at the start of the swim, at the Domein "Ter Heide" in Rotselaar, and another one at the Ladeuzeplein.

The bicycle park on the Ladeuzeplein will be open as of 8:00.  Athletes will have to leave their running shoes there before leaving for the swim.  You are also invited to use a (blue) plastic box, with no markings, and with a dimension of maximum L 45 x W35 x D25.  A plastic box that does not fulfill these requirements will not be allowed in the bicycle park.  The referees of the federation will be watching this closely !

The transition area at the start of the swim will be open as of 9:00.  You will receive at the secretariat a numbered plastic bag.  This you will have to use to put your material in (wetsuit, swimming cap, goggles) after the swim.  The organization will take care of transporting this to the second transition area at the Ladeuzeplein.

Location of the swim section of the race (Domein Ter Heide, Rotselaar):

Transport to the swim start

There will be shuttle busses to take the athletes (with their bikes) and supporters to the start of the swim.  We advise everybody to use these shuttles.

Departure for the athletes is foreseen on the Ladeuzeplein at 9:30; departure for  supporters is foreseen on the Ladeuzeplein at 10:15.

After the swim, supporters can use these shuttles to return to the Ladeuzeplein.  2 busses will be leaving at 12:00 and another 2 at 12:20.

The organization cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to the bicycles when being transported by bus.

Race Course

  • Biking will be done in a clockwise direction (1 straight run and 4 rounds).  There are 5 passages at the Ladeuzeplein.
  • Running will be over 3 rounds. There are 3 passages at the Ladeuzeplein.

  • Toilets are also available in the transition area on the Ladeuzeplein

Aid Stations

  • It is forbidden for supporters to supply their athletes with foods or drinks during the race.
  • We have 1 aid station during the bike section.  This will only be opened when you pass it for the second time (after 35 kms).  You will pass this post twice.  We offer you here water and sports drinks in drinking bottles as well as bananas.
  • During the run there will be 3 aid stations per lap (1 lap = +/- 6,6 km).
You will be offered water, coca-cola, sports drinks, fresh oranges and bananas.

Rules and Regulations

In 2010 the international (ITU) and Belgian competition rules have changed. For more information we refer to the website of the ITU or Flemish Triathlon & Duathlon Federation, an overview of the most important changes for this competition is found here:

  1. In non drafting races the punishment for drafting/blocking with black cards is replaced by yellow cards (penalty box/penalty run).

  2. The athlete who commits a small violation (helmet not properly closed, wrong use of number, …) receives a yellow card with stop&go (the official whistles, shows the yellow card, calls the number of the athlete and ‘STOP’ à stop&go). This stop&go punishment has no limitation.

  3. An athlete who commits drafting (drafting zone 10 by 3meters) or blocking, receives a yellow card with time punishment (the official whistles, shows the yellow card, calls the numer of the athlete and ‘PENALTY LAP’, the athlete reports him/herself at the next penalty lap for his/her time punishment). With a long distance competition, the athlete has 20 seconds to run in on the other athlete, once caught up, the second athlete has 5 seconds to remove him/herself at a distance of 10 meters (front wheel – front wheel). With long distance competitions an athlete is disqualified when a third yellow card for drafting/blocking.

  4. Athletes have to know in advance the course en have to follow the predescribed course during the race.

  5. A new overview of violations & punishments can be found in the annex of the ITU competition rules & ‘BTDF Sportreglementen’.

  6. When prospecting the course, the athlete also have to wear properly their helmet.

  7. An athlete cannot run with their helmet on or run barefoot.

Attention: you have 1h15 to finish the swim, if you finish later you cannot start biking; you have to start the last bike lap at the latest at 15h00 and the last run lap at 16h30.

Award Ceremony

The announcement of the prizes is foreseen at the Ladeuzeplein at 18:00.
